Dave
Born and raised in Eagle Rock, he was exposed to all type of genres and began his music studies early on in life. He pursued formal studies in piano and singing. Wanting to branch out, he took up guitar on the side, learning by ear in the process. While in high school in 1996, he joined up with another guitarist and drummer to form "The Secret Agents" and found himself in a bind. Drums & 2 guitarists with no bass. After many debates, Dave decided to give the bass a whirl and it immediately clicked. Being dyslexic, he realized that he could use his "deficiency" to his advantage and come up with some wicked bass lines that fit in the groove where no bassist has ever been. After masquerading as a singer with his second band "the Malfunkshuns" he returned to the bass, joining up with Media Orphan in 2006. Goin’ to town on the bottom end, Dave lays down uniquely melodic bass lines which are very unorthodox to modern day bass playing. Having this "organic" sound contributes to the raw rock & roll sound of Media Orphan.
Dave plays on a Fender P-Bass with EMG pickups out of a Carvin r1000 to his Ampeg SVT - 410HLF. His pedal board includes the Boss Tuner, Bass Chorus and a DigiTech Bass Synth Wah.
